Medical assistant careers involve working one on one with physicians to help coordinate patient care. Taking vital signs, setting up minor surgical procedures (cyst removal, circumcision, vasectomy, mole removal, etc.), and patient follow-up care are essential features of the job. You can find medical assistants in clinical settings, some physical therapy offices, and some research clinics.

Every year, the third full week in October is Medical Assistants Recognition Week. This year, Medical Assistants Recognition Week is Oct. 21-25, with Medical Assistants Recognition Day falling on Wednesday, Oct. 23.
Minnesota School of Business-Blaine will celebrate this event by offering cake to the medical assistant degree students on Monday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. and posting thank-you signs around the campus.
Laura Cady, a Certified Medical Assistant for over 20 years, states, “I know my job is important and that I am making a difference in the world.” Laura thinks that qualities of a good medical assistant include: exceptional organization skills, the ability to multi-task, and being detail oriented.
Dr. Morgan Mann, who works with Laura at Fairview Clinic-Andover adds, “The medical assistant is the most important member of the team. The medical assistant gets to know and cares for the patients. The medical assistant also reminds me of important health issues that patients relay to them so I do not miss anything.
